Essential oils are the concentrated plant oils that protect the plant. They are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots and flowers of the plants. Just like the phytonutrients found in the food we eat, these oils work at the cellular level to aid cells in function.
I use essential oils in my cooking to add extra benefits and flavor to food. A couple drops of lemon oil in my smoothie supports the detox activity of my liver. I spread the goodness of the oils into the air using a diffuser. The smell of peppermint oil and wild orange oil energize me and keep my mind clear as I work. And topically oils absorb through the skin for a wide array of health benefits. Dab on some lavender oil for headaches and to help you sleep. And you’ve probably heard of the grapefruit diet to lose weight? Well that is because of a plant based chemical in grapefruit that aides metabolism. Why not try a few drops of essential grapefruit oil instead?
